Terms of service
- StockIQ is an analysis and record-keeping tool. It is not advice, and iVest Group is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Section 11 is the part that matters most.
- Paid plans cannot be bought yet. Nothing here charges you anything today, and you will never be charged without agreeing to it at the point of purchase.
- The data comes from public filings and public market feeds. It can be delayed, restated or wrong, and we do not warrant it.
- Use it for your own investing. Do not scrape it, resell it, or reach for another user's data.
1. Who this agreement is with
These terms are an agreement between you and iVest Group, which operates StockIQ. In this document "we", "us" and "our" mean iVest Group; "you" means the person using StockIQ.
You accept these terms when you create an account or use the service. If you do not accept them, do not use StockIQ.
Our contact address for anything under these terms is [email protected].
2. Eligibility
You must be 18 or over and legally able to enter into a contract. You must not use StockIQ if the law where you live prohibits it, and you are responsible for complying with any local rules that apply to you.
These terms are written for consumers. If you use StockIQ in the course of a business, the consumer protections referred to in this document do not apply to you. Section 14 applies to you on its own terms.
3. Your account
- Give us a working email address. It is how we tell you about security matters and how we verify a request to reset your password, so a dead address will lock you out.
- Keep your password secret. Use one that is long and unique to this service.
- An account is for one person. Do not share your sign-in details.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, unless it happens because of something we did wrong.
- Tell us at once if you think someone else has access. We will invalidate your sessions.
We do not offer two-factor authentication yet, which makes your password the only thing standing between an attacker and your account. Choose it accordingly. You can sign in at the sign-in page.
You can change your password from inside the app, which requires the current one. If you have forgotten it, ask for a reset from the sign-in page. We email a link that is valid for one hour and can be used once, and using it signs the account out of every session — yours on other devices, and anyone else's.
We email a confirmation link when you create an account. It is valid for 24 hours and can be used once. Confirming the address is not a condition of using StockIQ; it is how we make sure alerts and account notices can actually reach you.
4. Plans and the free tier
StockIQ is offered on 3 plans — Sandbox, Analyst, Desk — with Sandbox free and permanently available. What each plan includes, the limits that apply to it, and the current prices are set out on the pricing page. Those prices are the ones that apply.
Plan limits are enforced by the server rather than by the interface, so an attempt to exceed a cap is refused rather than quietly allowed. The caps that apply to Sandbox are the ones on that page.
Only creating new records is capped. If you come down to Sandbox holding more than the cap allows, you keep every record you entered, you can read it and you can export it. What you cannot do is add another until you are back inside the cap. Nothing is deleted, and we never choose which of your records to drop.
We may change what is included in a plan. Where a change materially reduces what a paid plan gives you, section 12 sets out what we will do about it.
5. The trial
A trial runs for 7 days and gives you the Desk plan. Every new account starts one when you sign up; there is nothing to claim and nothing to wait for. No payment card is required to start it, and nothing renews into a charge at the end of it.
When the trial ends your account moves to Sandbox. That happens by itself, on the date the trial runs out, and nothing is charged and nothing is closed. Nothing you entered is deleted. The features that sit outside Sandbox stop being available, and where Sandbox caps the number of holdings or labels you cannot add new ones until you are back inside the cap. Your existing records stay where they are and you can still read and export them.
One trial per person. We may withdraw or shorten trials at any time.
6. Payment, renewal and cancellation
- Paid plans (Analyst and Desk) will be billed in advance, monthly or annually depending on what you choose.
- Subscriptions will renew automatically at the end of each period at the price then shown, until you cancel.
- You will be able to cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; you keep access until then, and we do not refund part-used periods except where the law or section 9 requires it.
- Prices include VAT where it applies. If a price changes, we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect and you can cancel before it does.
- If a payment fails we may suspend the paid features until it succeeds. Your data stays where it is.
7. Your data and what we do with it
The privacy notice sets out what personal data we hold, why, and for how long. Two points belong here as contract terms rather than as a description:
- StockIQ never connects to a broker, bank or platform. There is no account link, no API key store and no Open Banking connection. Everything about your holdings is something you typed or imported.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use the holdings you record to train models or to build a product for anyone else.
You can export your data at any time and close your account at any time, and you can ask us to erase it. See section 13 for what happens when you do.
8. Acceptable use
Do not:
- Extract data in bulk by automated means. That includes scraping the application, the marketing pages or the API, and any script, crawler or harvester that goes beyond ordinary browsing and normal search engine indexing.
- Resell, republish, redistribute or sub-license the data, scores, valuations, screens or alerts, or make them available as a feed, a newsletter, a signal service or a competing product.
- Attempt to reach data belonging to another user, or any part of the system you have not been granted access to.
- Attempt to bypass plan limits, rate limits or the sign-in gate.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source of the service, except to the extent the law says you may.
- Run penetration tests, vulnerability scans or load tests against the service without our written permission. If you find a security flaw by accident, email us and give us a reasonable chance to fix it before telling anyone else.
- Use StockIQ to do anything unlawful, including dealing on inside information or anything else that breaches market abuse rules.
- Upload content that is unlawful, or that you have no right to upload.
We apply rate limits, and we may throttle or suspend an account that places an unreasonable load on the service.
9. Your statutory rights, and the 14-day cancellation right
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content and services must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, you may be entitled to a repair, a replacement, a price reduction or a refund. We do not restrict those remedies.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you normally have 14 days to change your mind about something bought online. StockIQ is supplied over the internet and is available immediately, so when you buy a subscription we will ask you to confirm two things: that you want supply to begin straight away, and that you understand you lose the right to cancel once it has. If you do not give that confirmation, supply begins after the 14-day period has run.
If you cancel within the 14 days after supply has begun with your consent, we may charge a proportionate amount for the part of the period you have used.
None of this bites yet, because paid plans cannot currently be bought. It is stated so that you know what will apply when they can.
10. Where the data comes from
StockIQ is built on public sources: market data by way of the public Yahoo Finance endpoints, company filings from the SEC EDGAR system including Forms 4 and 13F, trade disclosures published under the US STOCK Act, and published company reporting calendars.
Those sources are outside our control. Data can be delayed, incomplete, restated by the company, mis-mapped between a symbol and a company, or simply wrong. Corporate actions and share splits can distort a history until it is reprocessed. Prices for London-listed shares are quoted in pence. Nothing in StockIQ is a real-time market feed, and it must not be used where a real-time or authoritative price is needed.
We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of third-party data, or of any figure derived from it. Where a number matters to a decision, check it against the primary filing.
11. No advice
StockIQ provides generic information and automated analysis of publicly listed companies, computed from public data by the same rules for every user. It does not know your circumstances, your objectives, your tax position, your other assets, your time horizon or your capacity for loss, and it makes no attempt to assess whether anything it shows you is suitable for you.
Nothing it produces — no score, fair value, margin-of-safety band, screen, ranking, alert or review label — is a personal recommendation or advice within the meaning of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 or the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Regulated Activities) Order 2001. Labels such as Add, Hold and Cut are the output of a rule applied to public data. They are descriptions of what a rule produced, not instructions to you.
iVest Group is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We are not permitted to advise you on investments and we do not. The Financial Ombudsman Service and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme do not cover this service.
You are solely responsible for your investment decisions. If you want to know whether an investment is right for you, take independent advice from a firm authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.
StockIQ is an information and analysis tool. It does not provide financial, investment or tax advice, and nothing it produces is a personal recommendation. The value of investments can fall as well as rise and you may get back less than you invested. Past performance does not predict future returns.
12. Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep StockIQ running and to keep the nightly data pipeline current, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability and we offer no service level commitment. The service may be unavailable during maintenance, or because an upstream data source has failed.
We may add, change or withdraw features. If we materially reduce what a paid plan provides during a period you have paid for, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of that period.
13. Suspension, termination and what happens to your data
You can close your account at any time, for any reason, from within the app or by emailing us.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is being used unlawfully, or that threatens the security or stability of the service. Where it is practical and lawful to do so we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right. For a serious breach we may act immediately.
Closing an account marks it inactive; it does not by itself erase the contents. Ask us to erase them and we will, within 30 days of the request, on the terms in the privacy notice. Export anything you want to keep before you close it.
14. Our liability to you
14.1 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude — including your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
14.2 StockIQ is an information tool. We are not liable for any investment decision you take, any trade you place or decline to place, or any loss or gain on an investment. Section 11 explains why.
14.3 We are not liable for the accuracy of third-party data or of figures derived from it, as set out in section 10.
14.4 We are not liable for loss that was not foreseeable when you accepted these terms. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious that it would happen, or if we both knew it might happen when the agreement was made.
14.5 Subject to 14.1, our total liability for all claims arising in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for StockIQ in that period and £100.
14.6 We are not liable for failures caused by an event outside our reasonable control, or by your own equipment, software or network connection.
15. Intellectual property
The service, the site, the code, the scoring methodology, the model definitions and the way results are presented belong to us or to our licensors. Nothing in these terms transfers any of it to you. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use StockIQ while your account is open and these terms are being kept.
The content you enter stays yours. You give us a licence to store, copy, back up, process and display it for the sole purpose of providing StockIQ to you. That licence ends when the content is deleted. You may export and use your own data for any purpose you like.
You may use the analysis for your own investing and quote it privately. You may not redistribute it, as set out in section 8.
16. Complaints
Email [email protected] and we will acknowledge it within five working days. Because we are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, the Financial Ombudsman Service cannot consider a complaint about this service, and we do not currently subscribe to an alternative dispute resolution scheme. Your right to go to court is unaffected.
17. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The date at the top of the page is the date of the current version. Where a change is material we will email account holders and post a notice in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept a change, close your account before it does; where you have paid for a period that has not run out, we will refund the unused part.
18. General
- These terms, together with the privacy notice and the cookie policy, are the whole agreement between us about StockIQ.
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- If we do not enforce a term straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- We may transfer this agreement to another organisation, for example if the business is sold. We will tell you, and your rights will not be reduced. You may not transfer it without our consent.
- Nobody other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
- Notices under these terms are given by email to the address on your account, or to the address in section 1.
19. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of StockIQ, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts. Nothing here removes the protection of any mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.
