Editorial policy

Last updated: 17 June 2026

Our goal is simple: clear, accurate, genuinely useful UK personal finance information that helps you make better decisions. This policy explains how we research, write, review and correct what we publish, and where the limits of our content lie.

1. What we publish

Financial Hub publishes plain-English guides, comparisons and free calculators covering UK budgeting, mortgages, ISAs and investing, side hustles, debt and specialist tax topics. Everything is written for a general UK audience and is intended to inform, not to replace professional advice.

2. How we research and source

We base our content on authoritative, primary sources wherever possible, including:

  • UK government guidance (GOV.UK, HMRC);
  • the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Money & Pensions Service (MoneyHelper);
  • the Bank of England and the Office for National Statistics (ONS);
  • official product documentation and provider terms.

Where we use figures, rates or allowances, we aim to cite the period they apply to, because these change regularly.

3. Accuracy and updates

Personal finance rules change frequently — tax years, allowances, interest rates and product terms all move. We review key guides on a regular cycle and update them when the underlying facts change, including a periodic review of our financial disclaimers. Even so, no guide can be guaranteed fully current at the moment you read it, so always confirm time-sensitive details (rates, allowances, deadlines) with the relevant official source or provider before acting.

4. Independence

Our editorial decisions are independent of our commercial relationships. Some links on the site are affiliate links that earn us a commission, but this never determines what we cover, what we recommend, or the conclusions we reach. We do not accept payment in exchange for favourable coverage. For full detail on our funding, see how we make money.

5. Use of AI

We may use AI tools to help research and draft content. AI-assisted material is reviewed and edited for accuracy and clarity before publication, and we remain responsible for everything we publish. We do not present AI output as personalised advice.

6. Not financial advice

Financial Hub is not authorised or regulated by the FCA. Our content is general information and education only. It is not a personal recommendation and does not take account of your individual circumstances. For advice tailored to your situation, speak to an FCA-authorised financial adviser, and for tax matters a qualified tax adviser. See our terms of use for the full position.

7. Corrections

We want to get things right, and to fix them quickly when we don’t. If you spot an error, an out-of-date figure or anything unclear, please tell us via our contact page (choose “A correction to an article”). We’ll review it and update the content where needed.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this editorial policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows the latest revision.
